Merrimack College + MyDocs: Unlocking Earlier Admissions Insight with AI-Powered Academic Profiles

Client Stories

As application volumes rise, undergraduate admissions teams face growing pressure to review transcripts quickly while maintaining consistency and academic rigor. Records arrive in varied formats and detail, making manual review time-consuming and difficult to standardize. For lean teams, gaining early insight into applicant quality is critical for shaping the class and planning enrollment strategy.

Merrimack College partnered with MyDocs to modernize transcript processing and deliver structured academic data directly into Slate. By converting transcripts into standardized MyDocs Academic Profiles, the admissions team reduces manual effort, improves consistency, and gains faster, actionable insight to support confident undergraduate admissions decisions.

The Challenge

Merrimack College processes a high volume of applications each year across a mix of first-year, transfer, and international students. As transcript volume and variability increased, the admissions team faced growing pressure to move faster while maintaining consistency and academic integrity.

Before MyDocs, the process was heavily reliant on manual transcript review, which created several challenges:

  • Time-intensive reviews slowed decisions and limited early visibility into applicant quality

  • Interpretations varied across staff, making consistency difficult to maintain at scale

  • Academic data lived within individual reviews and could not be easily reused for broader enrollment planning

Admissions leaders needed a way to reduce time to decision without cutting corners, especially in an environment where staffing constraints made efficiency critical.

The Partnership

Merrimack partnered with MyDocs to modernize transcript processing while preserving the rigor of its admissions review process. From the outset, the collaboration focused on applying AI-powered automation in a way that fit seamlessly into Merrimack’s existing systems and workflows.

  • Merrimack brings deep institutional knowledge, academic judgment, and a clear focus on enrollment strategy

  • MyDocs adds structured, standardized academic data through MAPit™, delivered directly into Slate

  • The Slate integration ensures academic profiles are immediately usable by admissions teams, reducing duplicate data entry and supporting faster, more consistent decisions

The partnership continues to evolve through close collaboration and a shared commitment to innovation, with plans to explore additional MyDocs solutions and expanded use cases over time.

The Solution

Merrimack implemented MyDocs MAP™ to automate transcript processing and generate standardized academic profiles at scale, with direct delivery into Slate.

Using MAPit™, transcripts are digitized and transformed into structured academic data that flows directly into Merrimack’s Slate environment. This allows the admissions team to:

  • Process large volumes of transcripts in hours instead of days

  • Apply consistent academic calculations across reviewers

  • Eliminate redundant data entry and reduce administrative friction

  • Access usable academic data earlier in the cycle to inform decisions and enrollment planning

While Merrimack’s current use is focused on undergraduate transcript processing, the partnership is designed to grow. Merrimack and MyDocs are actively exploring additional solutions, including FirstLook and expanded support for new applicant audiences such as transfer students.

Early Impact

While Merrimack continues to refine and expand its use of MyDocs, early results include:

  • 14,773 transcripts processed using AI-powered automation this cycle

  • 84% of transcripts required no recalculation, with the remaining reviewed quickly and efficiently within the MyDocs platform

  • 80% reduction in transcript review time, significantly accelerating processing and freeing staff for higher-value work

These early outcomes align with Merrimack College’s broader focus on working more efficiently, preserving institutional knowledge, and enabling enrollment leaders to make confident decisions earlier in the cycle.

“Enrollment leaders are being asked to shape their class, build their financial aid model, and make projections earlier every year. MyDocs allows us to understand the quality of our pool months earlier than we would have previously, which allows for us to make better, more informed decisions.”

Sr. AVP for Enrollment Management and Dean of Undergraduate Admission

Why This Matters

Admissions teams across higher education are being asked to do more with fewer resources, all while delivering faster decisions and better student experiences. Merrimack’s experience demonstrates how integrating structured academic data directly into Slate can reduce operational strain, preserve institutional knowledge, and unlock earlier insights into applicant quality.

Just as importantly, the case highlights the value of collaborative partnerships that evolve over time. By pairing technology with ongoing innovation, institutions can adapt to changing enrollment demands, extend impact to new student populations, and continue improving efficiency without disrupting existing workflows.
